60 Hikes within 60 Miles: Atlanta Written by Randy Golden and Pam Golden as part of the 60 Hikes series by publisher Menasha Ridge Press. The book covers a variety of hiking from the Pine Mountain Trail south of Warm Springs and Sprewell Bluff State Park on the Flint to an energetic 6 mile loop trail featuring portions of the Appalachian Trail and the Benton MacKaye Trail in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Currently in the Second Printing of the Second Edition, published in 2008
Hiking Trails of North Georgia Written by Tim Homan, the book expands on his earlier work with the Forest Service, where he wrote the first trail descriptions for a pamphlet produced by the governmental agency. The book is generally regarded as the best covering the trails of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Published in 1997.
Hiking Georgia The 3rd Edition of the Falcon Guide was completed by Donald Pfitzer in 2006. Unlike the other books mentioned here, Mr. Pfitzer does not limit himself to North Georgia, but covers the entire state. His book is an excellent resource for any hiker.
Waterfalls of North Georgia Jack Anthony (listed as John on the book) has written and photographed the best Georgia waterfall book we have seen. And while the photographs are enough incentive to buy the book, Jack includes everything you need to know to get to the waterfall. This is one book that doesn't stay in the bookshelf very long when it is put away.
