About North Georgia

John Bell Hood and the War for Southern Independence by Richard M. McMurry. I have always like Mr. McMurry's writing style and this book is up there with his other works, but students of General Hood it may be lacking because it concentrates on his time in Georgia and Tennessee.

Advance And Retreat: Personal Experiences In The United States And Confederate States Armies Don't even bother with this one. Written by General Hood, about General Hood, the book is very self-serving and mostly seems to be a response to Joseph E. Johnston's earlier tome.

0671562509 This book introduced us to Winston Groom before Forrest Gump. Groom's prose is strongest on command decisions, particularly on the Confederate side.
