Walker County is located in northwest Georgia, sharing boundaries with both Alabama and Tennessee. Dade County, Catoosa County, Whitfield County, Gordon County, Floyd County, and Chattooga County adjoin Walker County. The county seat is Lafayette.

History

Walker County was taken from Murray County, Georgia on December 18, 1833, making it the first county added to the original ten counties formed from the Cherokee Nation.
